Every modern astronomer knows that objects moving toward the viewer at a percentage of the speed of light will exhibit a blue-shift as the frequency of light increases in energy. Objects receding from the viewer exhibit a red-shift as the frequency decreases it's energy.
This is much in the same way that say an angry SUV owner's horn honking as it passes by you at a high rate of speed will change it's pitch from higher to lower as it goes by (hopefully you weren't impeding her right to get 8 miles per gallon).
Anyway, the name we call this distortion of light and sound is the Doppler shift. Our jersey is inspired by this principle. Imagine going so fast that people in front of you see a blue jersey and those behind you see a red one. Well, imagine no more.
